It is a Brave New World of online engagement for Law Firms out there with what seams to be an endless stream of ways for you to communicate with your potential customers, and for your potential customers to both learn about, and communicate, with you.
In this new world we find ourselves in, the bravery to forge ahead may seem a fool’s errand, after all this road is fraught with uncertainty and liability, and each step forward appears to bring even more with new platforms and social media channels popping up monthly. Legal minds might identify this as much more trouble that it is worth, and something that business, and individuals for that matter, might best stay away from. After all, one moment of weakness, one emotional outburst, one ill-planned post and problems can quickly tangle you up into a mess devouring your time, energy and resources and this is not good.
Problem is, the rest of the world really did not care too much about these “intricacies” and everyone dove in head first which means that if you want a seat at the table, you are going to have to get wet too. If you haven’t already, it is time to step up, because whether you like it or not, your digital reputation is already out there and it is being added to everyday by the people around you, the people who you touch through your practice, your employee’s and your competitors amongst others.
So, it might be time to plan that trip down the digital road, and just like any trip that you might take, a little advance planning, maybe a hotel reservation or two to make sure you are not caught sleeping on a park bench, and that little trip you have to take can all of a sudden start to look a lot more like a nice little vacation from the day to day that you live in. It is a brave new world for law firms as they step into online engagement. It’s time.
