New Tools, New Opportunities for Lawyers

New Tools for New Lawyer Opportunities

As you may (or may not) know, LinkedIn has been adding features at warp speed, some of which I’ve cherry picked out for you as most relevant to growing your law practice and positioning lawyers for authority building, and easy engagement.

For 2019 the next generation of LinkedIn pages has been completely rebuilt to create and nurture conversations with LinkedIn now nearly 600 million member community (and 30 million pages).

LinkedIn first launched LI Company Pages in 2010, and with the new roll out is simply calling it “Linked pages.”

Here are a few of the new capabilities your law practice (and its growth) will appreciate…

  1. A new mobile app so you (or your manager) can respond, comment or post updates on the fly/go and use relevant hashtags so you can follow or respond to conversations happening about your business or other relevant topics to your practice/area.
  1. A whole new suite of tools allows your employees, support staff, associates to reshare public LI posts from their page (for much wider view and reach)
  1. Last year LinkedIn launched its “Active Status” feature showing when contacts are online (indicated by a green dot on their thumbnail). Why is this important? Because it notifies you of the opportunity to have a real-time communication with one of your connections much like text/sms.
  1. Video editing is now readily available and it is absolutely clear that, as with other channels, LI wants you offer up video. Now you can add video to your rich media section immediately below our Summary. Why is this important? Because attorneys are notoriously unapproachable – there I said it! From your prospective client view point, attorneys have an unnecessary reputation for sometimes being the ‘necessary evil’ or ‘cost prohibitive’ or ‘buttoned up’ or….you get the picture (and ‘m sure you are aware of these half truths). Video is the best opportunity you’ll ever have (short of interacting face to face) to present a personable, human, approachable counselor. So use it to stand out from the buttoned up attorneys who still haven’t come around!

And in the latest development, LinkedIn is now also giving you plenty of opportunity – much like Facebook – to provide live video, and editing capabilities including subtitles. A recent study has shown that nearly 85% of people watch videos with no sound, so this is a must if  you start offering videos.

LinkedIn has made it very clear that they are working on several additional tools, bells and whistles related to video. So, for us early adopters we’ll be well rewarded – meaning LI’s algorithm will show video content to a much broader audience of your select choice!

There are primarily two ways to do this, so if you are interested in finding out how to take advantage of this, please reach out to me via LinkedIn (though not complicated, it would take a bit too long to describe right here and now in a step by step manner, including the third party applications needed).

So give me a holler at LinkedIn.com/in/vivecahess and we’ll chat more no how to set up, optimize and add in subtitles on your LinkedIn videos!
